ARTIST STATEMENT

My work explores the balance between structure and improvisation through contemporary textile abstraction. Working with reclaimed fabrics gathered over many years, I build compositions intuitively, allowing each decision to respond to the one before it. Geometric forms, shifting lines, and layered surfaces create a visual language that suggests movement, tension, and connection without prescribing a single narrative.

Cloth carries its own history, but my interest lies less in nostalgia than in transformation. Traditional textile materials become a vehicle for contemporary abstraction, where texture, rhythm, and spatial relationships take precedence. Hand stitching is not simply a construction method—it slows the process, allowing each piece to evolve through observation and response.

My goal is to create work that rewards sustained looking: compositions that reveal subtle relationships, invite multiple interpretations, and celebrate the expressive possibilities of fiber as a fine art medium.
